Virus attack

I'm a Windows XP user and am not sure what happened with my computer these past few days. When I start my computer and the desk top comes up, there's a text that comes up saying "warning virus detected on your computer".... install winspyware and then all these black bugs start showing up on my screen. It always goes to the warning and then the bugs appear with remark virus is critical, highly dangerous etc. Please bear with me while I try to fix the problem. I hope I don't have a damaging bug on my puter. My Norton may need an upgrade.

I think you need some spyware cleaner and / or better anti-virus. I have always despised Norton because it can freak out on its own whenever it cannot handle a virus. I used to use McAffee Total Security, it's a bit expensive but it gives you certain warning whenever you're about to open a "dangerous" page.

El,

You can opt for free anti-virus softwares such as Avira (Rima recommended it to me), which is 100% free to download and use, and the virus database updates are also quick and painless.

I was using Norman Anti-virus which came with the purchase of my Fujitsu but then it expired last year so I had to opt for *cough* free stuff. A friend suggested Avast, was using it for a while, then moved to Avira.

Give them a go!

My dear ... that's why I urge to change your computer religion to Mac especially when you go on line. I am now happily ever after with my Mac since my last PC was attacked by those unwanted visitors. Best.

AVG antivirus is also completely free and really good. All my pals use it.

Macs also have zero viruses. And I use Ubuntu Linux which also has no viruses / spyware etc :)

Ubuntu will even post you a CD if you want :)

Thank you guys, I am about as computer illiterate as they come. So the easiest way to do it, I called the computer shop and asked them to fix it for me. Save all the problem and furthers errors I might make :)

How can Macs be zero viruses? What does that mean? That viruses just don't attack Mac computers?

Isn't that discrimination towards the virus-makers?
